Vanflex

Driver terms

Version of 31 October 2026.

This agreement is between you, the driver, and Ironbridge Group Ltd (“Vanflex”, “we”). It applies when you sign up and every time you take a job through Vanflex. Please read it — especially sections 3 (insurance), 7 (waste), 9 (liability) and 11 (customers). By ticking “I agree” at sign-up, you accept it.

Customers book under our customer terms, which you should also read.

1. You're independent

You're a self-employed business, not our employee or worker. You decide whether and when to go live, which jobs to accept, and how you do them, within these terms and the law. You use your own van, tools and equipment at your own cost. Nothing in this agreement creates employment, partnership or agency the other way round.

You're responsible for your own tax, National Insurance and (if you're registered) VAT, and for keeping records. We don't deduct tax from your earnings.

Vanflex acts as your agent to find customers, set the fixed price, take payment from customers on your behalf, and pass your share on to you.

2. Who can drive

You must be 18 or over, have the right to work in the UK, hold a full UK driving licence valid for your van, and give us true, up-to-date details and documents. We check them before you can go live, and may check them again at any time.

Only you may do jobs on your account. Don't share your login or send someone else in your place, unless we've agreed it in writing and they're approved on Vanflex themselves.

Tell us straight away if anything changes — your licence (points, ban, medical), insurance, van, waste registration, or a relevant criminal conviction.

3. Insurance

While you're live or on a job, you must have, at your own cost:

  • motor insurance that covers carrying goods for hire and reward;
  • goods in transit insurance of at least £10,000 per load;
  • public liability insurance of at least £1,000,000, covering damage to customers' property and injury while loading, unloading and on their premises.

Show us your certificates when asked. If any cover lapses, go offline until it's back. Driving for Vanflex without the right insurance is grounds for immediate removal.

4. Taking jobs

When you're live, we may offer you jobs that suit your services, van and location. Accepting is up to you. Once you accept, you've made a binding promise to the customer to do that job, at the fixed price, at the time shown.

  • “Now” jobs: arrive within the time shown (up to 60 minutes). If you're late, the customer can cancel free or ask for another driver.
  • Booked-ahead jobs: arrive within the one-hour window. If you can't, hand the job back as early as you can so it can be re-offered.
  • Arriving late, or handing back a job you accepted, earns a strike. We look at strikes alongside ratings, and too many can lead to suspension.
  • No-show: if the customer isn't there, wait 15 minutes at the pickup with your location on before marking a no-show. Marking one falsely is fraud.

You can decline items or jobs that are unsafe, unlawful, or clearly bigger than described — but tell the customer politely and use the app, so the booking is settled fairly.

5. Doing the job

Carry out every job with reasonable care and skill, safely and lawfully: secure loads properly, stay within your van's weight limits, follow the Highway Code and parking rules, and treat customers and their property with respect.

Use the app at each step (on the way, arrived, loaded, done), and take the proof photos it asks for. Keep location sharing on while you're on a job, so customers can see you coming.

Don't ask customers for extra money, tips as a condition, or cash payments. Any change to the job goes through Vanflex.

6. Pay and fees

The customer pays the fixed price to Vanflex. You earn the price before any discount code, less our commission — currently 18%. The amount you'll earn is shown before you accept. Discount codes come out of our share, not yours.

We pay your earnings weekly, by bank transfer to the account you give us, for jobs completed (and fees collected) up to the end of the previous week. Cancellation and no-show fees (currently a £15 call-out, or 50% for late cancellations of booked-ahead jobs) are yours in full, but only once the customer's payment for them has actually been collected.

If a customer is refunded because of something you did or didn't do (for example a no-show by you, a job you didn't finish, or damage you caused), we can take that amount from your future earnings. We'll tell you why first.

Recruiting bonuses for bringing in new drivers (£25 once they complete 5 jobs) are paid with your earnings. We can withhold them if they're gamed.

We can change the commission or fees with 14 days' notice. Changes never affect jobs you've already accepted.

7. Waste and garden jobs

To take rubbish or garden jobs you must hold an upper-tier waste carrier registration with the Environment Agency (you can register on GOV.UK) and keep it valid. Those jobs stay off until we've checked it.

You must take all waste to a licensed waste site, follow your duty of care, give the customer a waste transfer note if they ask, and keep your waste transfer notes and tip receipts for at least two years. Show them to us on request.

Fly-tipping or dumping waste anywhere other than a licensed site means immediate removal from Vanflex, and we will report it to the authorities. You're responsible for any fines, clean-up costs and claims it causes.

8. Your van and safety

Keep your van roadworthy, taxed, MOT'd, clean and fit for the jobs you take, and tell us if you change it. You're responsible for your own health and safety while working — lift safely, get help for heavy items, and refuse anything you can't move safely.

9. Liability and indemnity

You're responsible for loss, damage or injury you cause while doing a job, and for any fines or charges you incur (parking, speeding, congestion, tipping). Claims from customers about damage or loss are handled through your insurance; you must cooperate with us and the customer to resolve them.

You agree to cover Vanflex (indemnify us) against claims, losses, fines and reasonable costs we suffer because you broke this agreement or the law, or were negligent while doing a job.

Vanflex is not responsible for your lost earnings or business losses, for what a customer tells you about a job, or for damage to your van. Our total liability to you in any 12 months is limited to the commission we earned from your jobs in that period. Nothing here limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that can't be limited by law.

10. Ratings

Customers rate you after each job. Ratings, strikes and complaints help us keep quality high; consistently low ratings or repeated complaints can lead to suspension. Don't pressure customers about their rating, or rate or book jobs for yourself.

11. Customers and their details

You'll see customers' names, numbers and addresses only for the jobs you do. Use them only to do that job. Don't keep, share or sell them, or contact the customer afterwards for anything else. You must handle personal data in line with UK data protection law. See our privacy notice for what we do with yours, including your location.

No going around Vanflex: for 12 months after a customer's job, don't offer or accept work from that customer outside Vanflex, or encourage them to book you directly. This protects the platform that found you the customer. If you do, we may remove you and charge you the commission we'd have earned.

12. Conduct

No discrimination, harassment, abuse, threats, drink or drugs, unsafe driving, or anything illegal while working for Vanflex customers. Don't represent yourself as a Vanflex employee or make promises on our behalf. Don't misuse the app — for example faking your location, false no-shows or fake bookings.

13. Suspension and ending this agreement

You can stop using Vanflex at any time by going offline and asking us to close your account. Finish (or properly hand back) any jobs you've accepted first.

We can suspend or remove you immediately, without notice, if we reasonably believe you've broken this agreement or the law, put anyone at risk, behaved dishonestly, or your documents or insurance are no longer valid. While suspended, your booked jobs go to other drivers. Otherwise we can end this agreement with 7 days' notice.

When it ends, we pay you what you've earned (less anything you owe us under section 6). Sections 6, 9 and 11 continue to apply.

14. Changes

We may update this agreement. We'll tell you about important changes at least 14 days before they apply. If you keep taking jobs after that, the new version applies; if you don't agree, you can stop at any time. We record which version you agreed to.

15. General

This agreement, with the customer terms and privacy notice, is the whole agreement between us about driving for Vanflex. If part of it can't be enforced, the rest still applies. If we don't enforce a right straight away, we can still enforce it later. You can't transfer this agreement to anyone else. Nobody else has rights under it.

This agreement is governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales deal with any dispute. Contact us at hello@vanflex.uk.
